Patch notes can make Season 14 sound like a spreadsheet, but it plays more like a test of rhythm. Before chasing another supposed S-tier setup, check whether your Diablo 4 Items actually support fast, repeatable runs, because that's what keeps a character moving through Torment.

Patch Changes That Actually Matter
Patch 3.1.1 didn't redraw every class overnight. It made the grind less punishing, which is a bigger deal than it sounds. High-Torment Deathtoll Chambers now guarantee a Superior Lair Key, Corrupted Reaper can hand out extra Pandemonium Fragments, and Glints of Hope pays one too. The Mythic upgrade cost dropping from five fragments to four matters most to ordinary players. More attempts means more chances to fix a weak slot. The repair for Mythic Unique drops removes a dead end from boss farming. You still need a build that works, but steady clears now beat a one-off lucky spike.
  • Start with the activity you can finish without resets, then raise Torment only when runs stay comfortably quick.
  • Use fresh fragments on slots that change your loop, not on tiny upgrades that merely improve a character-sheet number.
  • Keep an eye on naturally dropped Mythics; crafted limits don't stop dropped versions from opening strange new combinations.

Class Choice and the Blood Moon Breeches Farm

Class rankings are shaky this season, and that's not a cop-out. Mythic versions can turn a decent Unique into the piece that suddenly makes an A-tier build fly. Druid, Warlock, and Paladin look forgiving for broad progression, while Rogue, Sorcerer, and Necromancer reward cleaner execution. For Necromancers, Blood Moon Breeches deserve a proper look. Astaroth, reached through a Torment Nightmare Escalation, is the focused farm. The pants let summons spread Decrepify or Iron Maiden, then boost critical damage against cursed targets. That's great for a summon-curse loop, not a mandatory pants slot for every bone or sacrifice setup.
  • Farm Astaroth on the highest Torment where the full escalation stays smooth, rather than gambling on a slow, messy clear.
  • Prioritise summon uptime, Curse coverage, and critical damage together; Breeches shine when those three parts are already connected.
  • Save promising duplicate pants, since the better roll may fit a different minion setup after your other gear changes.
Reality check: A perfect drop won't rescue a build that runs dry on resources or falls over to ordinary elites.

Torment Progression Without Wasting Runs
Difficulty is where plenty of players throw away their progress. Unlocking Torment XII proves you passed a gate; it doesn't prove it's your best farming setting. Normal through Penitent are for building the basics, then Torment I opens the boss and crafting loop. In the middle range, damage and toughness need to rise together. At Torment VIII, stronger War Plan rewards are nice, but not worth deaths. Torment X and above bring better Gem Fragment returns, yet long boss fights erase that advantage fast. Watch the recommended Toughness number, but treat it as a warning light, not a survival plan.
  • Move up after ordinary packs die quickly, elites don't consume every cooldown, and a missed boss mechanic isn't instantly fatal.
  • Step down when deaths break your route or Astaroth turns into a drawn-out slog with no clear reward gain.
  • Fix the weakest defensive layer first: life, resistance, armour, barriers, healing, or whatever protection your class actually uses.

Play the Runs You Can Repeat

Pick the class whose combat you won't dread after twenty runs, then farm at the tier that keeps loot coming. A stable Necromancer can get Blood Moon Breeches faster than a reckless meta build, and buying D4 items cheap only makes sense when it fills a gap in your plan.
