Does Lamar Die in GTA 5? U4GM Explains His Fate

Plenty of GTA 5 players expect Lamar Davis to get killed at some point, and it is easy to see why. He talks his way into trouble, backs people he should not trust, and keeps dragging Franklin into messy situations. Still, Lamar does not die in any successful version of the main story. If you are replaying missions while deciding whether to buy GTA 5 Money for your wider GTA experience, it helps to remember that mission failures are not part of the plot. When Lamar goes down during an objective, the game sends you back to a checkpoint rather than carrying that death forward.
Where the confusion comes from

The big scare is "Lamar Down." Stretch sets Lamar up, and Franklin has to bring Michael and Trevor to the sawmill rescue. It feels like the sort of mission where Rockstar might pull the rug out from under you. But Lamar has to make it out alive for the mission to count. The same thing happens in Ending C at the foundry. Enemies can kill him if you lose control of the fight, yet that only triggers a failed attempt. You reload, protect him better, and carry on.
What each ending actually does

[*]Ending A puts Trevor in danger, not Lamar
[*]Ending B centres on Franklin's break with Michael
[*]Ending C lets Lamar fight beside the three protagonists
[*]No ending gives Franklin a choice to murder Lamar
That is the key point players sometimes miss. GTA 5 has lots of deaths that can happen during free play or botched missions. Those are gameplay outcomes, not story events. Lamar is never given a permanent death scene, a funeral, or even a later conversation suggesting he was lost off-screen. His appearance in later GTA Online material also makes the intended outcome pretty clear: he is still around, still loud, and still convinced his next plan is about to pay off.
Why Franklin keeps coming back for him

Lamar is more than Franklin's comic sidekick. He is tied to Franklin's old neighbourhood, his first criminal routines, and the version of himself he is trying to leave behind. Franklin gets fed up with him, sure, but Lamar never turns on Franklin for money or status. Stretch does. That difference matters. Lamar's loyalty is often blind, especially when it comes to Stretch, but it is real. Franklin saving him is not just a rescue objective. It shows that moving up does not have to mean throwing every old friend away.
Lamar survives because the story wants that tension to stay alive. He has not suddenly become careful after the sawmill or the foundry, and that is part of the joke as well as the point. He gets another chance without earning a clean, tidy transformation. For players spending time in Los Santos, whether they are running story missions or checking out cheap GTA 5 Online Money for online activities, Lamar's status is simple: protect him when the mission asks you to, and he remains alive in the continuing story.
